Polo With the passing of time, polo is still played in Barbados. This ancient British custom, dating back to the colonisation was an activity practised by a minority which over time has become a distinguished sport. Barbados is today, an important location for the major players of polo, where international competitions are organised each year on polo grounds which meet the highest of standards.
Polo is played on a large grass field, 300 yards long by 200 yards wide (275 m x 160 m) with a goal post at each end. There are four penalty lines on each side.
