SHILLINGFORD DISTILLERY Roseau Built at the end of the 19th century by a French family, then revived by the Shillingford family, the Shillingford distillery is considered to be the best producer of cane juice needed for the production of the rum on the island of Dominica. It is the largest distillery of “rhumbrun” [“dark rum”] on the island. The rum produced is commonly called the “Macoucherie”, and is produced from the sugar cane of the region. Three kinds of rum called the “Macoucherie White”, the “Red”, and the “Spiced” (also called “Bois Band”) are a powerful aphrodisiac for men. On the site you can also see a replica of the oldest water mills of the Caribbean, which were used to extract the cane juice. Come and discover the tastes of Dominica! HOTELS CLOSE TO :
