PRESENTATION OF SAINT LUCIA The smallest island of the Caribbean,St Lucia is 40 km north of Martinique and 32 km from the archipelago of St Vincent & Les Grenadines.
The landscape of St Lucia is most famous for the Grand and Petit Pitons, overlooking the Baie de la Soufrière to the south of St Lucia. The island has one of the few volcanoesin the world accessible by car. With its verdant valleys and its intense blue sea, this mountainous island issues a call to discover the exotic Caribbean.
A little history …
In about 1500, St Lucia was visited for the first time by the Dutch, the English and the French who tried to establish trading posts.
In 1660 France was the only country to achieve a signed treaty with the Caribbean. The island changed hands fourteen times up to 1814, when France ceded it to England.
