Since the late 19^th century cricket has been the national sport of Barbados influenced by British customs. The “bajan” Sir Garfield Sobers, a national hero, who was considered as one of the greatest cricketers of his time, was knighted by Queen Elisabeth II in 1975. He is the only batsman to ever score six sixes in a single over!
