BAIGNOIRE DE JOSEPHINE
Located in the Baie du François, near the Thierry and Oscar islets, the Baignoire de Joséphine is a broad band of fine sand with shallow turquoise water and a white seabed.
According to the legend, this “baignoire” took its name from the Empress Josephine de Beauharnais, Napoleon’s first wife, who loved to swim here.
Today, the Baignoire de Joséphine is one of the main tourist attractions of Martinique, where people meet, away from the crowds, to wade sipping a ti-punch.
